WorldSkills competition highlights electrical engineering talent

For the first time, the world’s largest vocational skills competitions was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. ABB was a Skill Sponsor for the category Electrical Installations, with 38 countries participating.

The individual gold medal went to Beat Schranz, from Switzerland, who earned 767 points. Hui Dong from China and Hannes Innerbichler from South Tyrol, Italy, won silver and bronze medals, respectively.

China led the medal count with 15 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals. Korea was second in medal points, receiving 8 gold, 8 silver, and 8 bronze. Switzerland followed in third place, winning 11 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
