ABB Brazil rolls out its first mobile services unit

2017-07-06 - Truck equipped to provide fast emergency and routine services at customer locations has been deployed

ABB clients across Brazil can now count on local support from ABB for fast and personalized repair and maintenance services, no matter their location, even in remote places or in local with little infrastructure. ABB’s first mobile emergency services workshop in the country is already deployed and has left the company’s headquarters at the West End of São Paulo city. It will work in conjunction with an established ABB Service location situated at a mining plant in the country’s northern state of Pará.

According to Marcelo Capellotto, Head of Service for the Industrial Automation division of ABB Brazil, the new deployment will bring ABB closer to its customers and will provide more flexibility to provide timely services directly at the clients’ plant. “Beyond our ample product and solution portfolio for industrial automation, we have invested in this mobile workshop in order to offer more agile and higher quality services to our clients.”

The local mobile service truck initially originated to meet the support needs of ABB’s local mining customers; it will also provide support to other local market segment customers served by ABB (pulp and paper, food and beverage, oil and gas, ports and ships, pharmaceuticals, energy providers, and others).

According to Capellotto, ABB already has service trucks operating in other locations throughout the world. “This mobile unit is a further step in enhancing our customer service in Brazil. It will allow us to respond faster to our customers when they need help, and moreover to collaborate closely in proactively keeping their plant and mill equipment running, at peak performance”.

The unit is equipped to provide cleaning, maintenance, and small repair services for various equipment, such as low and high-tension circuit breakers, low voltage switches, measurement and control instruments, other control and automation devices, and more. The truck has a testing stand, power-distribution switchboard systems, air compressor, portable generator, water tanks, and other equipment needed to provide these services on-site.
