ABB wins multiple automation awards

April 20, 2017, Beijing – At the China Automation Industry Annual Conference 2017 (CAIAC 2017) held recently in Beijing, ABB was awarded several awards including the “Top 10 Most Trusted Products”, the “Top 10 Most Competitive & Innovative Products”, and the “Top 10 Most Valuable Solutions” with its leading automation products and solutions, fully demonstrating its technology and market leadership in the automation field.

Sponsored by the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA), CAIAC is an annual event in China’s automation industry. The appraisal, following the principles of “Fairness, Openness and Professionalism”, is aimed to fully demonstrate the new advances and highlights in China’s automation industry. Going through nomination, expert review and online voting, the appraisal lasted four months before finalizing all the winners.

The locally developed ACS580MV was awarded the “Top 10 Most Trusted Products”. As a member of the ABB all-compatible drives portfolio, ACS580MV is an advanced product for ABB to navigate in the general-purpose fans and MV pumps fields. With multiple built-in features and a compact design, it is designed to control pumps and fans in various industries and deliver energy savings. Since its introduction, the ACS580MV drive that features simplified operations and excellent performances, has been widely recognized by the market and deployed in many large projects.

The ABB Connected Services for robots introduced in 2016 was granted with the award of the “Top 10 Most Competitive & Innovative Products”. The connected services can be obtained via MyRobot, ABB’s single intuitive interface, providing preventive, proactive and timely supports for ABB customers, covering robot condition monitoring and diagnostics, back-up management, remote access, fleet assessment and asset optimization. These services can help customers reduce incident rate by 25% and improve response and issue recovery speed by up to 60%.

Many coal mines in China are in lack of a systematic design, composition, operation and management system for its underground coal transportation, which results in the low automation level and poor system connection of machines involved in the process. To solve the problem, ABB put forward the smart coal flow solution. Based on the “automation” and “intelligence” of single machines involved in the underground transportation, lifting, on-ground raw coal transportation, as well as coal washing and preparation, the system takes a holistic and systematic consideration of the entire chain. Through proven mathematical modeling and reliable software & hardware system, it not only enables “intelligence” and “systematicness” in physical equipment, but also delivers “adaptive” and “systematic” changes in the operation management. With various innovation highlights, the ABB intelligent coal flow system was named the “Top 10 Most Valuable Solutions”.

In addition, the CAIAC 2017 also honored ABB (China) Limited with the “2016 China’s Top 10 Enterprises in the Field of Automation”, and Pauli Järvinen, Head of ABB Robotics and Motion division North Asia and China, the “Person of the Year 2016 in the Field of Automation”. From the establishment of the first joint venture in China in 1992, ABB consistently adheres to its “In China, for China and the World” strategy and actively provides localized services and solutions along the entire value chain. With leading power and automation technologies, ABB has proactively participated in and supported the industrial upgrading and sustainable development of China under the “New Normal”.
