ABB recently signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Yitai Group in Inner Mongolia, a well-known Chinese coal production and further processing enterprise. The two parties plan to deepen the cooperation, jointly develop and implement established plants and newly-built intelligent plant demonstration projects of Yitai Group, as well as explore the intelligent plant business of coal chemical industry both at home and abroad.
Under the agreement, ABB will provide intelligent plant-wide solutions for Yitai’s upgrading of established plants and newly-built plant projects based on the integration of electrical, control, instrumentation and communications (ECIT). This will help Yitai break the "information silos" of plants to open up the data connection among various systems and also to leverage big data and collaborative operation to achieve the goals like improving productivity and profit, reducing investment and operation costs, and so on. In addition, ABB will also form a consortium with Yitai in the future to jointly develop the global intelligent market for coal chemical industry, with advantages of both parties in their respective fields. This is another important achievement for ABB to leverage its digital capabilities to create value for customers and work with customers in specific industries for win-win results.
"At present, a new round of technological upgrading and industrial transformation has promoted the rapid changes in the industrial field. Digital and intelligent technologies have become the important driving force and development direction of global industrial change. Through this cooperation, ABB combines its own advanced technologies and practical solutions with Yitai's industry expertise in coal chemical industry. The two companies will work together to support coal chemical enterprises to accelerate digital transformation and intelligent development, with the aim to enhance the core competitiveness in global market, " said Dr. Chunyuan Gu, President of Asia, Middle East and Africa Region, ABB Group, and Chairman and President of ABB (China) Co., Ltd, in his speech.
"The entire oil, gas and chemical industries are now in a period of transformation. ABB is working with petrochemical customers around the globe to drive progress for the industry, understand current and future challenges, remain invincible to their competitors, and help them flourish during the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Our ABB AbilityTM digital solutions combined with our 50-plus years of experience in the global petrochemical industry make us uniquely positioned to address and overcome these challenges,” said Colin Ward, Head of Chemical and Refining business, ABB Group.
"Yitai Group is committed to making the modern coal chemical industry bigger, stronger and better by utilizing advanced science and technology. At the same time, we also face the challenge of economic benefit improvement and fierce market competition. Yitai looks forward to using ABB's digital solutions and services to achieve the intelligent control and management optimization of our plants, thereby reducing production costs, ensuring safety and improving productivity and informatization level. We’d like to truly accomplish the integration of informatization and industrialization as well as intelligent upgrading, "said Zhang Daihua, Project Manager of Yitai’s intelligent coal chemical plant and Deputy General Manager of Yitai’s Coal Chemical Management Department.
