ABB Customer World: presenting ABB Ability™, the industry-leading digital portfolio, in Poland

2017-06-06 - Łódź, June 6, 2017: More than 300 guests, including representatives of the leading Polish industrial companies, participated in ABB Customer World to get a first-hand impression of ABB Ability™, a next generation of digital solutions and services, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of ABB in Poland.

It is estimated that most of Polish companies have not yet left the industry 3.0 phase. However, digital technologies that drive increased productivity, lower maintenance costs and reduced energy consumption are of growing interest. It was no different during ABB Customer World in Lodz. For the first time, ABB presented ABB Ability to its Polish customers and partners, a powerful portfolio with already more than 180 digital solutions and services. This new offer exploits the idea of the Industrial Internet of Things by developing new or enhancing existing integrated solutions and processes for customers in utilities, industry, transport and infrastructure.

ABB Customer World witnessed an eager discussion. According to Gartner, the Internet of Things (IoT), which excludes PCs, tablets and smartphones, will grow to 26 billion units installed in 2020. This offers a big opportunity for users. At the same time, being at the beginning of a new age can be challenging. ABB is well equipped to help its customers to take the full advantage of the opportunities arising through the fourth industrial revolution and to respond to the question: “How can do we do more and do better?”

“Digitalization is a great opportunity for industry and the comprehensive portfolio of ABB Ability solutions can help our customers to take a quantum leap in digital,” said Paweł Łojszczyk, ABB Managing Director in Poland. “Regardless of the sector, companies generate a vast amount of data every day, which very often remains unused. ABB Ability helps to process and analyze data in real time and take data driven decisions. This provides operators with insights that fed into control systems improve uptime, speed and yield.”

During the event, customers from segments such as energy, F&B, oil and gas, mining, rail and the e-mobility sector used the opportunity to learn about the different aspects of the Fourth Industrial and the Energy Revolution. Some of the showcased products included: ABB Ability Smart Sensor (a smart sensor device allowing to continuously monitor low voltage motors), ABB Ability Connected Services (services dedicated to robotics and automation solutions) and eCharger (DC fast charger for electric vehicles). Apart from the exhibition, guests participated in workshops dedicated to key ABB business areas and in discussions focused on industrial digitalization. The speakers at the event included Bazmi Husain, Chief Technology Officer of ABB, prof. Richard Żurawski from University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Krakow and Jarosław Zarychta, Business Development Manager, Microsoft Poland.

ABB Ability was launched in Europe during Hannover Messe 2017 where Poland was featured as the show’s official Partner Country. Now the first official presentation of ABB Ability to the Polish market took place in the perfect location and at the right point in time: in Lodz – the city of one the biggest transformer production centers in the world and in the revitalized buildings of historical EC1 power plant where an old turbine manufactured by Brown Boveri still impresses visitors. And, at the time of industrial development, that urges companies to look for new ways of gaining a significant competitive advantage. To top this off, ABB is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Poland.

ABB in Poland employs more than 4700 people across 11 factories and 25 branch offices. More than half of ABB production in Poland is exported to almost all countries around the world.
