When laser cutting robots are combined with ABB’s new laser cutting software—RobotWare Cutting and RobotStudio Cutting PowerPac—users will find it easy to get up and running quickly with plug-and-play operation for common laser cutting applications.
At iREX 2013, two IRB 4400 robots will be on display in ABB’s booth and will be outfitted with a complete laser cutting package including laser source, cutting head and software. The IRB 4400 is high speed, compact and versatile robot which has the capability of processing payloads as heavy as 60kg—and can utilize a variety of laser cutting heads while doing it.
“With our new laser cutting software it is easy and efficient to program complex cutting paths and shapes,” says Andreas Eriksson, ABB Product manager. “Users can create and test advanced programs in an office environment, maximizing uptime and efficiency. The software is even capable of ‘learning by doing’ using an advanced Iterative Learning Control (ILC) algorithm that constantly improves performance and cutting accuracy.”
The IRB 4400 laser cutting package is a robust and well-balanced design with TrueMove™, which ensures the robot will follow its programmed path regardless of its speed, resulting in smooth and quick movements for the highest quality, highest efficiency and most flexible robotic laser cutting. Furthermore, the robot’s double bearing joints, steady and stable aluminum steel arms, torque strut on the second axis, and maintenance free gearbox and cables ensure a rigid structure and reliable operation.
