Transformer’s portfolio features new products at Cigré Transformer Colloquium in Zurich

2013-10-03 - About 300 people visited the Cigré Transformer Colloquium which took place in Zurich, Switzerland, September 9-13 where ABB participated as gold sponsor.

The first three days of Cigré were open to the public and took place in main building of ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.

The public sessions included a conference, workshops, a poster session and an exhibition. “The sessions went very well and were visited by around 300 participants”, said Martin Carlen, global product manager of dry-type transformers. “ABB had a very good presence during these technical sessions and presented several topics in speeches and posters.”

As a gold sponsor, ABB also had the opportunity to present its transformer portfolio at ETH. “In addition to different transformer models with amorphous core, ABB presented the new Micafil EasyDry bushing. Micafil experts were on hand to meet with customers and discuss features of the new EasyDry bushings,” explained Marco Spinelli, market manager of transformers in Switzerland.

During the week of Cigré, the participants had the opportunity to visit different factories in the area. ABB’s Micafil plant was one of the options, which was of huge interest to attendees.

In addition to the production line for RIP (resin impregnated paper) bushings, factory visitors also got to see the brand new production line for EasyDry bushings in RIS (resin impregnated synthetics) technology. Irina Leutwyler, general manager for the Micafil plant, summarized the visit saying that “It was a great opportunity for the Micafil plant to show our broad portfolio of high quality dry bushings.”
