Nearly 160 golfers took part in the tournament. In addition to ABB employees, the tournament also drew customers, suppliers and channel partners. We also had a record number of hole sponsorships (15) this year, including sponsors from as far away as San Diego, California.

“The continued success of this event shows our employees’ commitment to helping this amazing charity,” says Gary Marler, co-chair of the tournament. “I’m proud to say that not only did we have employees from all ABB divisions participating in the event, not to mention several from offices outside Houston who were in town for other business, but we even had several non-golfers join the tournament, just to show their support.”

The Houston-area offices began supporting RMHH in 2010, when it was selected as the charity for Automation & Power World that year. Since then, between the fundraising done by local offices, at the 2010 and 2012 Automation & Power World events, and grants from ABB Foundation, ABB overall has raised more than $300,000 for the organization.
This money has played a major role in helping RMHH support families dealing with a serious childhood illness, according to Executive Director Leslie Bourne. She spoke to participants after the tournament and shared some figures on the work done by the organization during 2012. Across the three Ronald McDonald Houses in Houston, more than 3,700 families were served. That comes to 26,102 family night stays in the three houses.
