São Paulo, January 09, 2017 – ABB, global leader in energy and automation technology, will provide equipment to Presbyterian Mackenzie University (São Paulo city, Brazil), aiming to automatize the university’s engineering laboratory and deliver complete control and automation systems, providing the students with the intimacy with technologies already present in the Industry 4.0. The delivery of the new equipment, due to the beginning of 2017, will allow the integration of sensors, buttons, robots, and many other electric devices in a single system. Such integration will lead to fully immersive experiences by the students, using cutting edge technology developed by ABB.
ABB has already supplied robots to Mackenzie University’s automation laboratory in the past and, having achieved positive outcome, it made necessary to expand the program, including new equipment to complete the system, so to achieve even greater results. The project comprises 4 automation sets. Each set presents programmable logic controllers (PLCs of the AC500 family), human-machine interfaces (CP400 LC family), communication modules, and input/output signal modules (I/O).
“We are excited with the opportunity of modernizing even more Mackenzie University’s laboratory. Mackenzie is one of the most prestigious private learning institutes in Brazil. Now students will count with more resources, being able to experience the use of current equipment to carry out modern automation projects with ABB’s technological support” – says Ronaldo Tarcha, Control Technologies manager of ABB in Brazil.
Integrated and intelligent system
After the implementation of the ABB automatization sets, Mackenzie’s students will have access to a fully integrated, functional, easy to configurated laboratory. These advantages are provided by the engineering software DM-Tool, which delivers an environment that allows programming robots, CLP and IHM.
The system uses standard connection bases (modules and controllers), simplifying the hardware configuration. The Automation Builder engineering software, part of the DM-Tool suite, enables programming all PLC AC500 and AC500eCo models. The AC500 and AC500eCo I/O modules are interchangeable in all its range of resources. All the controllers used come with Web Browser, failure diagnosis, and graphic and chart variable monitoring features installed.
