EOW with System 800xA as part of the Factory of Future initiative

2017-01-24 - Recently, the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) in Singapore held a graduation ceremony of the Young Engineers Leadership Programme (YELP) and Advanced Engineers Leadership Programme AELP at A*STAR ARTC.
The guest of honour, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister in Prime Minister's Office and the Secretary-General of the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC), Singapore was given a tour of the workshop and was introduced to ARTC’s work in the area of advanced manufacturing and remanufacturing.

One of the main attractions of the displays was ABB’s Extended Operator Workplace (EOW) as a part of the Factory of Future initiative. The EOW with System 800xA is a state-of-the-art control environment designed with operator effectiveness in mind. It empowers operators to consolidate and rationalize data from various sources seamlessly - be it Safety Systems, video surveillance, ERP, DCIM or any electrical control system. Digitalization ties it all together, where actionable information drives better decisions, and helps manufacturers unlock the benefits of ABB’s concept of the Internet of Things, Services and People (IoTSP), increasing productivity, flexibility and efficiency along the manufacturing value chain. It connects our customers to the power of the Industrial Internet of Things and, through our services and expertise, goes further by turning data insights into the direct action that "closes the loop" and generates customer value in the physical world.

ARTC has initiated to push EOW as one of the showcases to display Virtual Simulation to Minister as one of the future technologies factories will be looking at during process implementation.
