Supporting customers to extend the life of power plants

The Power Generation business unit in Singapore recently participated in the 16th Technical Forum organized by Philippines Coal Plant Users Group (PCPUG), a non-profit organization representing coal power generation companies in the country. The event took place from 29 – 30 September, at Clark Pampanga, located around 100 kms north-west of Manila, Philippines.

With the event theme of “Coping with changes”, the overall event was focused on environmental stewardship with regards to greenhouse gases control, performance improvement and new technologies. The event brought together around 180 coal based plant users with the opportunity to share their operations and maintenance experiences, best practices, as well as challenges while original equipment manufacturers and solution providers shared technological advancements of their products, services and solutions.

Rajeev Kishore, Hub Service Manager for Asia Pacific, presented how Symphony Plus helps plant operators proactively protect investment with optimized and innovative solutions of maintenance and operations, while increasing the availability and efficiency of the plant. He also shared the benefits of seamless integration of automation and electrical systems, extending the life of plant automation through ABB’s evolution without obsolescence policy.

ARC Advisory Group recognized and confirmed that Symphony Plus automation system is the number one positioned supplier of DCS globally, as the system is controlling more than 50 gigawatt of additional power since introduction in 2011.
