The Belt and Road initiative has created great opportunities for EPC business. According to the Ministry of Commerce, China invested about 14.5 billion dollars in areas along the Belt and the Road initiative routes. As of the end of 2016, Chinese businesses had built 56 economic and trade cooperation zones in more than 20 countries along the Belt and Road, with the total investment exceeding 18.5 billion dollars, generating nearly 1.1 billion dollars in tax revenue and creating nearly 180,000 local jobs. Mr.Jun Shen, President of Sinoma International Engineering Co., Ltd. (Nanjing) and Mr. Melvin Zhou, Vice President of International Engineering Company - China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. attended the panel discussion of the forum. They both agreed that, ABB is the preferred partner for the EPC business and hopes to together promote the development of China’s EPC business through enhancing further cooperation with ABB and providing comprehensive value-added services.
As the Belt and Road initiative becomes more influential, a number of major infrastructure projects are steadily rolled out.
