ABB delivers heavy-duty robots for first time in Bulgaria to taps and mixers factory in Sevlievo
Four IRB 4600 robots from ABB will help Ideal-Standard-Vidima to improve the quality of its production and to ensure safer environment to its employees.
The first installation of IRB 4600 robots in Bulgaria will take care of the effective and secure process, by containing the dirty part of the production of our customer inside the metal enclosures. This guarantees the high production rate of the factory without endangering employee’s health with improved quality. Furthermore, the newly installed robots allow a very flexible process in case of replacement of the sandpaper or any other detail.
All four robots installed to Ideal Standard’s production facility in Sevlievo are operating in a partially sealed metal cell and conduct a line grinding on the casted taps and mixers, aiming to remove the so-called “mustaches” after the casting process. ABB’s IRB 4600 is a highly productive general-purpose robot optimized for short cycle times where compact robots can help create high-density cells.
“ABB has delivered a very sophisticated piece of technology which operates under harsh working conditions and perform operations, which are potentially hazardous to humans. I believe that these robots will drastically improve the volume of all produced taps and mixers and the overall performance of the factory ”, said Krasimir Obretenov, General Manager of Eltronic OOD, subcontractor of Ideal Standard in Sevlievo, Bulgaria

The IRB 4600 robots guarantee the sharpest path accuracy and motion control on the market and short cycle times (Up to 20-25% shorter cycle time than its precursors). Also, this robot is IP67 certified and designed to operate in extremely heavy conditions, which fits the needs of our customer perfectly. The small footprint, the slim swing base radius around axis 1, the fine elbow behind axis 3, the small lower and upper arms, and the compact wrist all contribute to the most compact robot in its class.
“We have delivered a perfectly suited solution to Ideal Standard, which resulted in better production capabilities and safer working environment. ABB’s robots have the most comprehensive protection program on the market, which is further improved in the IRB4600 series and devlivers extra value to our customers,” said Ekkehard Neureither, Country Managing Director of ABB in Bulgaria.
