ABB Welcome all-digital door entry system
Beijing, April 19, 2013 - ABB, the leading power and automation group, was recently named a preferred supplier of the Top 500 real estate developers in China for its leading door entry system and Electrical Wiring Accessories (EWAs). The door entry system, developed by ABB’s R&D team in China, won the award for the first time thanks to its innovative design and excellent market recognition.

The campaign to select the preferred suppliers for the Top 500 real estate enterprises is co-organized by the China Real Estate Institute, the China Real Estate Association (CREA), and the China Real Estate Appraisal Center. The winners are elected through a series of election process including application, voting for brand perception, nomination by CREA, field survey and expert appraisal.

Kin Kwan Lam, Vice President of Low Voltage Products Division and head of the Wiring Accessories Business Unit, ABB China, said, “With its insights into the local real estate market, ABB has adapted its door entry systems and EWAs to match the demands of developers. The systems were then integrated with the original ABB i-bus® building control system, to deliver a complete solution for building smart communities and enabling a green, safe, and intelligent lifestyle.”

Adhering to “In China, for China and the world” strategy, ABB has established its global door entry system R&D center in Xiamen, China, with a focus on R&D for home automation, intercom, and access control systems. Several product families tailor-made to the demands of local and international markets have been introduced since the center was established in 2010, including Welcome all-digital/semi-digital products, G series products, and two-wire suit products for the European market. The ABB Welcome series has achieved remarkable market recognition from customers and industry experts, winning the prestigious “Red Dot” award, the world’s top design award since 1955, the “Most Fashionable Household Products of 2012” award in China by Trends Home Magazine, and the “Top 10 Security Brands” award at the 11th China International Exhibition on Public Safety and Security, as well as achieving a vast install base in the local and international high- and mid-segment market.
ABB universal power socket with USB charger

Building on its more than 100 years of experience in R&D and production, ABB has customized a few EWA series for the Chinese market, finding great favor among quality-aware consumers. For example, ABB’s universal socket, the winner of the 2010 China Red Star Design Award, integrates a conventional power outlet with a USB DC power outlet, eliminating the need to carry a USB charger.

ABB provides a wide-range product portfolio for intelligent buildings, including door entry, intelligent building control systems, and various wiring accessories and breakers. Moreover, ABB has developed a wide spectrum of smart solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings that are tailor-made to the demands of various regions worldwide. So far, the leading-edge technologies and solutions for intelligent building have been installed in such key national projects as the National Stadium (generally referred as the “Bird’s Nest”), the National Aquatics Centre (known as the “Water Cube”), Shanghai Tomson Riviera Apartments, Beijing TV Station, and the National Library.
