For the 3,200 A and 4,000 A units, an all-new design, featuring an advanced contact construction, has increased the short-circuit rating to 80 kA. Their high-rated short-time withstand current (lcw) means ABB’s OT switch disconnectors can be used as the main switch, providing reliable on-load switching in extreme conditions, eliminating the need for separate on-load devices.
“Innovations like this show why ABB is the industry’s most trusted brand,” said Marcus Olander, global product manager for ABB’s switch disconnectors. “With these upgrades to our OT switch disconnector range, customers can save more money, space and time. ABB customers can use OT switch disconnectors to replace high-current devices as the main switch, saving thousands of euros in the process.”
ABB has also optimized the OT3200 A and OT4000 A designs to fit standard 600mm cubicles, avoiding customization costs. The ingenious design packs current ratings that are 50 percent higher into a 3 pole unit that measures just 514mm wide.
A standard busbar width provides a direct fit with the 140mm switchgear standard, saving the time and cost of customizing busbar connections. 185mm versions are also available.
The position indication is the clearest, most reliable available. The contact position can be read straight from the contacts and the pole modules are arranged in a single layer to make all contacts visible.
“ABB switch disconnectors are now better suited than ever for heavy duty applications, such as distribution centers with full rated current,” added Olander. “Relevant short-circuit ratings are available for IEC and UL versions alike. The OT range is also equipped with extremely resistant insulation materials, which help reduce the risk of flash-over between phases in even the most severe circumstances and environments.”
ABB’s OT switch disconnectors, or isolator switches, are essential safety equipment in demanding applications in power distribution or motor control centers. By completely disconnecting an electrical circuit, ABB’s OT switch disconnectors make them safe for servicing or maintenance.
Their smart, modular design and adaptable construction reduce installation time. The modular design enables 2-, 3- and 4-pole installation with flexible positioning of the switching mechanism to suit requirements with different position of the switching mechanism to suit your needs and spatial requirements. The easy-to-configure units can be customized with a host of connections, handles and accessories. Motorized versions, namely OTM3200 and OTM4000, are also available now.
