The Discrete Automation and Motion division of ABB Limited, India, launched two select, energy-efficient products at its Channel Partner Meet. The high output Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) and Drive package that was voted Europe’s automation product of the year in 2011 and the Solar Pump Drive that has been indigenized to address Indian market requirements reaffirm ABB’s commitment to enabling India’s sustainable development.
Harnessing the power of the sun
Solar powered and energy-efficient products have the potential of being market catalysts for green energy in developing countries like India. The Solar Pump Drive, derived from ABB’s existing product line, has been re-engineered in India exclusively, to meet customer requirements for uninterrupted and reliable power in rural and agricultural sectors.
With over 300 sunny days a year; the Solar Pump Drive will help Indian farmers maximize the benefits of solar power, while reducing dependency on the grid. It is ideal for remote areas that are not grid connected or where power availability is capital intensive, and will also help offset the cost of diesel gensets. The Discrete Automation and Motion division has increased its footprint in the solar business with products such as inverters and has booked over 225 MW orders in the last financial year.
