ABB shares its technical expertise at 2nd International Data Center Summit in Bangladesh

2017-10-24 - ABB was a platinum sponsor at the 2nd International Data Center Summit, jointly organized by Bangladeshi Data Center consultancy DCicon and the Data Center Professionals Society of Bangladesh.

Hundreds of technologists from 30 international organizations and 9 countries were present at the event held in Dhaka. Post telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry affairs parliamentary committee Chairman Imran Ahmed and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood were also present at the event.

During the two-day event, ABB conducted seminars on several topics- UPS systems for critical applications, power protection, data center solutions for enhanced operations and the industrialized data center. Outside the seminar rooms, there was a showcase to demonstrate a wide range of ABB products and solutions for the data center market.

Mr Imran Ahmed and Mr Shahjahan Mahmood opened the event by highlighting the growing importance of data centers and data volume as Bangladesh moves toward the “Digital Bangladesh” vision. Hence data center technologies are vital to this direction and in ensuring the security of the data produced. Mr Imran Ahmed also emphasized the need for data center education in local universities to produce skilled professionals who can operate these data centers.

The South Asia Managing Director of Uptime Institute, John Duffin also affirmed the huge potential of the Bangladeshi data center market and the importance of consistent power supply. He added that as a disaster prone region, Bangladesh could consider introducing technologies such as renewable energy to power data centers in Bangladesh and bolster economic growth.
