Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee meets with ABB CEO in Hangzhou

Hangzhou, June 28, 2017——Che Jun, Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, met with ABB executives led by CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer on June 27 and exchanged opinions on how to further extend the cooperation between ABB and Zhejiang Province.
Che Jun said, as Zhejiang further deepens the integration of informatization and industrialization, a large number of local enterprises are in urgent need of upgrading and transformation by replacing human labor with robots, which requires the support from global leading companies such as ABB. Che Jun looks forward to ABB’s further investment in local R&D based on the long-term cooperation, and jointly turning Zhejiang into a leader in robotic industry to boost the economic transformation and upgrading in the province.
Spiesshofer gave a brief introduction on ABB’s development in the province as well as ABB Customer World 2017 which is being held in Hangzhou. He said, we are optimistic about the future development of Zhejiang Province and willing to support its intelligent manufacturing by leveraging ABB’s industrial IoT technologies and digital solutions.
ABB has one local company, three branches, a comprehensive service center and one of ABB’s four global distribution control system (DCS) R&D centers in Zhejiang Province. Established in 2009, ABB Hangzhou Winmation Automation Company Limited, is not only a local company of ABB committed to the R&D, manufacturing, marketing and services of industrial automation and control systems, but also one of ABB’s four global distribution control system (DCS) R&D centers.
Over the past years, ABB has been closely collaborating with local customers and partners in the construction of many key projects in Zhejiang Province, contributing to Zhejiang’s economic development. For example, ABB provided key devices for Xiluodu-Zhexi and Lingzhou-Shaoxing ±800kV UHVDC power transmission links, and supplied control system or robotic solution for Cainiao Network, Zhejiang Medicine and Geely Automobile. ABB also participated in the construction of many transport and infrastructure projects such as Hangzhou Metro, Ningbo Metro, Wenzhou Airport, Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, Thousand-Island Lake Cloud Computing Data Center, and Hangzhou International Expo Center, the main venue of G20 Summit to support the industrial upgrading in Zhejiang Province.
ABB Customer World 2017, ABB China’s largest annual customer event and for the first time held in Hangzhou, showcased ABB’s latest innovations and digital solutions by 5,500 square meter exhibition, an opening ceremony, 5 industry forums and 141 seminars.
Spiesshofer was accompanied by Timo Ihamuotila, Chief Financial Officer of ABB Group, Dr. Chunyuan Gu, Chairman and President of ABB (China) Ltd. and other ABB executives.
