Developing the electrical industry workforce in Thailand

ABB and Department of Skill Development (DSD) partner to prepare a future-ready workforce

ABB in Thailand has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), a state enterprise, on conducting study and cooperation to formulate, develop and proceed on possible technical collaborations as well as sharing and supporting each other through training capabilities, workshops and exchanged programs.

The signing of the MoU, valid for a period of 3 years from mid-September, signifies a close working relationship that ABB has fostered with DSD. The memorandum also establishes a platform for learning and training, enabling workforce from the electrical sector to work with ABB’s electrical equipment that will be used during the training and workshops.

“It is important for building electricians to possess the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs meeting all standards as the type of work involved can pose a significant hazard to lives and other assets,” said Sirichote Singsa, Robotics and Motion Division.  “To address this requirement, ABB is collaborating with the Department of Skill Development to develop technical training for building electricians, as well as to support low voltage protection components such as miniature circuit breakers and enclosures to help develop the skill sets of electricians”.

Thailand is focusing on human resource development to create decent jobs for the workforce that have high productivity in order to contribute to a robust, sustainable national economy.
