In a day when most of the key boulevards are closed to guarantee the free passage of the runners in Marathon Plovdiv, the citizens were able to breathe air free from CO2, resembling a city where the main transportation is electric, securely powered by ABB and without air pollution. As one of the biggest employers in the Plovdiv area, ABB became a general supporter of Marathon Plovdiv and presented its responsible plan for a sustainable and environmentally friendly future of the region. While the runners were warming up for their challenge, ABB shared its vision for fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles across Bulgaria, encouraging the big cities to invest in environmentally friendly technologies and modern transportation.
During the Marathon (April 30) and the day before, ABB organized multiple activities for those interested in engineering, presenting job opportunities, attractive laboratories, as well as more information about scholarship and internship programs in the company. Furthermore, an ABB team of 17 runners, proudly presented the company in both 21 and 42km distances, while a Multi-standard fast-charging station Terra 53 CJG was placed near ABB’s tent in the center of Plovdiv, accompanied by electric vehicles and many young faces to explain the technology.
“We are challenging our employees to join various health activates every day and Marathon Plovdiv is one of these challenges, aiming to keep our people active. I’m glad to see so many colleagues joining the running team and supporting the company tent during the Marathon, “said Uwe Tschirner, Manager of ABB’s production units in Rakovski.
Among all attractions, electric vehicles fast-charged by ABB escorted the runners on their way to final, demonstrating the power of the CO2 free transportation. “We’re extremely happy to have ABB as a general sponsor of Marathon Plovdiv, because of company’s commitment as an employer, but also because of their impressive technologies,” said Milena Alen PR Manager of Marathon Plovdiv. “Our mission is to promote running as the natural healthy choice for wellbeing and we have a big dream that is the day of the Marathon to be announced as a “Day without cars in Plovdiv.” Thanks to ABB this almost happen,” added Mrs. Alen.
