The delegates at the second edition of the ‘Digital Oilfields World Summit,’ discussed the significant changes sweeping through the sector such as how the oil and gas rich Middle East energy companies are pushing the frontiers of digital strategies, taking on new challenges and embarking on a digitization journey expected to increase production levels from increasing challenging fields.
The delegates also elaborated upon a major change - the increasing roles of the technology providers in overcoming some of the major challenges the industry is dealing with today.
Tackling digital threats
ABB took the lead in information sharing and Akilur Rahman, Global Head of Cyber Security, Process Automation, spoke about “Cyber Security in Digital Oilfields – Need for a Coordinated Lifecycle Approach.” ABB’s presentation at the event was well appreciated by the delegates including senior managers from several utilities. ABB’s offering for the digital oilfield projects was exhibited on both the days of the event.
The conference was spread over different sessions which comprised presentations and panel discussions involving various speakers from owner-operators like ADMA OPCO, ADCO, ZADCO, GASCO, Takreer, Kuwait Oil Company, Qatar Gas, PDO and Saudi ARAMCO.
After the event, ABB organized a seminar on ‘Cyber Security’ at the learning zone in HQ, Abu Dhabi. During the sessions, which attracted participants from eight companies, the team from the oil, gas and petrochemical and control technology introduced the latest developments in the field of cyber security and how can ABB help in mitigating cyber threats and risks associated.
During the session the customers were also taken for a tour of the learning zone and the automation arena. The seminar was extremely interactive with an impressive number of participants from ADMA-OPCO, ADCO, GASCO, Takreer, Petrofac, National Drilling Company and many more.
