The agenda included sessions on policy, monitoring and control, flexibility, society’s perceptions of energy and strategies to achieve goals for 2030.
As the event’s headline sponsor, we were able to share a platform with senior industry figures and raise awareness of our capabilities in energy storage and demand-side response schemes, as well as sharing the findings from our innovation-funded projects.
Our Technology Strategy Manager Peter Jones gave a presentation on creating the infrastructure for flexible networks. He explored how innovative infrastructure is making flexible networks a reality and the importance of cross-industry digital capabilities – such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), distributed energy resource management solutions (DERMS) and asset management software solutions.
In addition, we boosted awareness by distributing a new edition of our FFWD customer newsletter, through e-shots, social media and on a web landing page on ABB’s website. Network will publish a follow up article.

As headline sponsor, ABB’s brand was seen alongside high quality speakers, with little presence from other suppliers. The event organisers at Networks magazine are planning a follow-up event in 2018 and we hope they will build in workshops and more interactivity next time.”
